Despite the doom and gloom news on the job front, whether it be unemployment, or layoffs. There is some positive sunny news along the beach.

Tourist season is gearing up and that usually means more jobs to be had along the Crystal Coast. Despite the recession and the 10 percent unemployment rate in Carteret County, we found out many businesses like the Sheraton in Atlantic Beach will hire as usual taking on an additional 60 summer employees. The same can be said for the Sanitary Restaurant. It says despite the economy, it will double its staff this summer.

The employment securities commission says it believes the unemployment rate will drop in Carteret County during tourist season, due to summer employment.

If the coast area will stop hiring Foreign Exchange Students, maybe there will be more jobs throughout the entire coast of NC but it seems as even though we are going through the ringer with jobs, the government still allows the foreigners to come here and take the jobs that the locals should get first! Now! Is that looking out for the American workers first? I would say NOO!!!!

Are the scandanavian kids not coming this year? Wonder where they all come from? I know the Food Lion at AB always has quite a few of them.
