Destination Weddings Have Many Headed To Our Coast!

As the temperature gets warmer and we enter into spring and summer, it's not only a signal for pool days and planting, it also means it's wedding season!

Destination weddings are a popular option for many brides, but in this recession some are finding they just can't afford to go overseas, so instead they're coming right here to Eastern Carolina.

Paying for a wedding can be expensive. But despite a tough economy many brides-to-be are still willing to dish out the money to have the wedding they always dreamed of.

According to wedding planner and owner of Bridal By The Sea Rachel Monroe, she's continued to see steady business. One of the reasons Monroe says her business has survived in a tough economy is because of her location. And that's because in an effort to stay on a budget many brides-to-be, like Jessica Paige, are skipping out on the expensive cost of going overseas and instead their traveling closer by to Eastern Carolina's Crystal Coast, which is more affordable.

Not only is it a popular destination, but publisher of Crystal Coast Bride Magazine Eric Haus says key things about a beach wedding can lead to a possible lower cost.

Haus says another big way to save money is to have your wedding at the same place you stay for your honeymoon. It's become so popular it's even coined a new phrase in the wedding industry, wedding moons.

But while Haus and Monroe say they've continued to see a steady flow of business they have seen some cutbacks because of the economy.

Haus says the beach isn't the only popular place to have a wedding in the crystal coast, there's a lot of people who go to venues like the North Carolina Aquarium and some go to Beaufort if they want something more historic.

I agree with J...I am getting married at Emerald Isle right on the beach, but it's a very, very meaningful location for me. My family owns a cottage right there on the water front and have for as far back as I can remember. We have rebuilt there and gone threw many hurricans and this is the place where my family comes to get together on holiday's and vacations, so it's very special to me. Also, we are going on our honeymoon to Nags Head b/c we haven't been there in forever and thought it would be fun and cheap!! J you hit the nail right on the head for me!! by the way, I am getting married in TWO weeks!!;) just thought I would share that

Shouldn't spend that much on a wedding anyway. I know its a lifetime memory ect ect, but you don't need it. You really do not remember it anyway. What you remember is the little things, like when he leaves you a note in the bathroom, or the late night dinners watching TV. Not the expensive things. That just ads to the bills.

Seriously, is there not an editor at WITN?? "Destination weddings are a popular option for many brides, but in this recession some are finding they just can't afford to go overseas, so instead [their] coming right here to Eastern Carolina." It should be THEY'RE, which means THEY ARE.

Why don't people just get married somewhere that actually means something to them instead of somewhere random. Just bring some money to the OBX, that will be the best thing out of it.

Why the NC coast?! The only advantage over Myrtle Beach is isolated beaches South of Oregon Inlet. M.B. has far more advantages.
