Emerald Isle St. Patrick's Day Celebration

In a bad economy some people here in the east are hoping to see good business for this St. Patrick's Day weekend.

Crews spent Friday morning setting up for the 18th annual St. Patty's Day Festival Saturday in the green city of Emerald Isle.

Vendors, local arts and crafts, a beer garden, corned beef and cabbage, amusement rides and games are what you'll find at the event.

Alesia Sanderson, parks and recreation director, says the festival is also a chance for the town to showcase its shops, and restaurants. Sanderson says, "We invite everyone to come out. There may be a little rain but we have plenty of cover, plenty of entertainment."

The festival runs from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Admission and parking are both free.

WITN is a proud sponsor of this event.
