A World War II landing craft that may be one of only 12 remaining has been restored at a North Carolina museum and will be returned to its owners.
The Carteret County Times-News reported that the Higgins Boat was restored at the North Carolina Maritime Museum in Beaufort. It will be returned in early April to the First Division Museum in Wheaton, Ill.
