13 Year Old Volunteer Who Raised $14,000 Receives National Award

She's been volunteering within the Carteret County community since the age of four. Now a 13 year old Morehead City student has taken home a national award.

13 year old Sydney Pfaff has raised 14 thousand dollars over the past 3 years for various charities stemming from a fashion show she put together with her friends.

Sydney was recently named North Carolina's Top Youth, along with one other student for their volunteer efforts. Its a national award part of the Prudential Spirit of the Community Awards.

Sydney Pfaff will also receive one thousand dollars for winning the award, an engraved silver medallion, and an all expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. in May.

    I used to volunteer allthe time when I was younger but never required the recognition for it. Thats what volunteering is all about. You dont HAVE to be recognized.
