A trio is behind bars following a vehicle stop, charged with being in possession of several drugs.
The Cape Carteret Police Department says that it arrested 37-year-old Danica Cox of Newport, 37-year-old Michelle Benfield of Wilmington, and 48-year-old Cherri Queen of Wilmington following a stop Saturday morning for a minor traffic violation.
Officials say during the stop, there was evidence leading them to believe there were narcotics in the vehicle.
Cox has been charged with driving while license revoked, fictitious registration plates, possession of marijuana, possession of heroin, possession of cocaine, maintaining a vehicle for keeping a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond for Cox was set at $22,000.
Benfield of Wilmington was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia. Benfield's bond was set at $10,000.
Queen was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia. Queen's bond was set at $10,000.
All three are being held in the Carteret County Jail. They have a first appearance scheduled for Monday.
