16 Busted In Prescription Forgery Ring

Sixteen people have been arrested in a prescription forgery ring that stretched from Carteret County to Brunswick County.

Carteret County deputies say the ring centered on Casey Williams, who was employed as a radiologic technologist at Crystal Coast Family Practice of Morehead City. They discovered that Williams and her boyfriend, James Maynor, forged numerous prescriptions from stolen pads and also sold forged prescriptions to people willing to pay for them.

Deputies say the pads came from Port City Neurosurgery & Spine in Wilmington, Coastal Carolina Orthopedic Surgery in Jacksonville, and Medac Health Services in Wilmington, all where Williams was formerly employed.

Investigators alleged that the couple began selling fraudulent prescriptions in New Hanover and Brunswick counties and the two eventually moved to Havelock where they continued to sell prescriptions and medication to people in Carteret County. Through the prescriptions, investigators were able to obtain a list of buyers. The two are accused of distributing more than 4,500 Percocet pills, most sold for $10 a pill on the street.

I agree with shocked. Casey and I have been Best friend's since the 3rd grade. THIS isn't the Casey I know and love. She is a very loving Mother, a hard worker and a great friend. She doesn't use drugs and has NEVER been in any trouble other than a speeding ticket. She has worked in the medical field for many years in which this never happened. She simply got up with the wrong guy at the wrong time in her life. She was a struggling single Mother. Was and is it wrong YES does she regret every second of it YES. People make mistakes and she understands that she will have to pay the price. Just try to remember that she has a Family and friends who have been hurt. Instead of judging her, pray for her instead.

No one is judging her, but against what should have been her better judgement. She should have known better. Lots of us are single moms on hard times, that is not excuse to turn to this behavior. Her one and only focus should have been her kids.

Danielle, I agree that she should have used better judgement and your right that there is no excuse for what she did. I'm just saying that people need to remember that she is human and makes mistakes just like the rest of us. Making a bad choice in life doesn't make you a bad person. If that were true there would be no good people left in this world. I just want people to know that before you leave a nasty comment..think to yourself..could this happen to someone I love and care about? This isn't something that any of her Family or Friends would ever dream she would be capable of doing. We are all in shock and hurting.

I think that alot is just a first reaction. You are correct no one needs to judge, but I will say as a parent raising a child of a user as well as a seller...it is hard not to say some things. There are plenty of things I would like to say to the other parent, however it is more important to remember the kids involved. She should have known better, but now some one needs to put the kids first. If she needed anything like money or help, there are other means of getting both. But please if you are her friend please take care of the kids. That is all that matters

I totally agree with "?!?!?!?!" Do NOT judge! You yourselves are guilty of things that SHE would not do, and visa versa. Remember what we are here for ppl, or do you not know that we are supposed to LOVE ONE ANOTHER, to LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF. This is not about pills, or drugs, but about integrity. Medication isn't the problem no more than alcohol a problem. It its abuse. And it's not "IF" but "WHEN" someone you love or yourself makes a bad decision, or better yet, gets caught for your bad decision, so be the person you would want for yourself if YOU made a mistake. Be kind... and yes, pray for her.

This is a start for illegal sale's of drugs ,but its not even a drop in the bucket for Newport or ENC. Drug Dealer and illegal drug user's are the problem and driving crime up. ,but maybe its job security keeping these creeps on the streets and not busting them all. Maybe im Wrong and this will make a diffrence in Newport but i dont think so because of all the crack heads . ,but i really hope im wrong.

what's with all the posts defending good ole' mom? If she 'loved' her children so much, why did she decide to be a criminal?

...decided to be a criminal? There's some criminals that I LOVE... that if alive today I would be beside myself to meet.. humbled AND honored. Martin Luther King is one of them.

I've never sold anyone anything illegal or dangerous. I've only stolen something once-around age six (I still remember the whipping I received). Please explain how anything like this will ever hit home with me...

It seems her remorse regarding her actions and how it will affect her kids is secondary here...sorry but she stole these pads from a number of offices she has worked prior to CCFP. She has obviously been at this for awhile. How about the lives of the people affected by the drugs she sold? What about their families? Don't portray her as an innocent here, her children are that, and it is sad. Glad to have her off the streets and those associated with her. No sympathy here from me! Good job Asa Buck!!!

If you truly are a prescription drug abuser, you will feel differently when your liver gives up from being over-worked for too long. Once the symptoms start, it is likely too late. If you just take a few OTC or prescribed medications as directed, your comment really doesn't pertain to this story.
