NEW INFO: Two Charged In Craven County Murder

Two men accused of killing a Morehead City man had their first court appearance Friday morning.

Gary Turpin of Newport and Anderson Gentry of New Bern were given court appointed attorneys and will be continued held in jail without bond.

Two men are charged with murder in what authorities call a drug deal gone bad.

The Craven County Sheriff's Office arrested the 24-year-old Turpin and the 25-year-old Gentry for the death of 19-year-old Troy Collins of Morehead City

Authorities say Collins was found Wednesday afternoon lying near the road behind Riverdale Fuel Mart on U.S. 70. He died Thursday morning.

Authorities say Turpin and Gentry set up a deal to buy Ecstasy pills with Collins, and then put a gun to Collins' head, robbed him and then hit him on the head. Collins jumped out of the car near the Riverdale Mini Mart.

Both Turpin and Gentry now have a September 1st court date.

I don't get you people. There are 3 stories here. All of them end in a terrible way. Why is it that most of you act like this is something that could never happen in your families? Believe me IF you have kids this could very well be in YOUR future too. There has to be a stopping point to all these people making these drugs that corrupt our kids.If no one makes the crap then no one will be buying or selling it, or dieing from taking it! Our kids can find this at any school in the country, some even find it at home! Am I the only one who can see the problem taking over America and the world? I know for a fact that all 3 of these boys were once someones babies,They had a chance for good lifes until they found drugs. Now 1 is dead and 2 are in jail. Some say that the 2 boys in jail don't deserve to breath but their families and friends disagree with you!I disagree with you Why not sit down and truely think about what each one of us can do to make sure this doesnt happen to YOUR Family?

the cops say it was a drug deal gone bad. they knew they were going to rob him and beat him. and yes selling drugs is a bad life style. but it doesnt mean you deserve to be beat in the head and left for dead. people are going to get the drugs they want one way or another. if they want them they'll get them. its thier problem if they're doin drugs.

Three guys, two buying drugs, one selling drugs, two rob one, one dead, two go to jail for a long time... I dont know about you but I think justice is being served. I wouldnt mind if you put a bullet in the back of both there heads. Morons who buy or sell drugs, rob and murder just need to be shot. so quit trying to make excuses for these criminals. all your doing is empowering the next group of idiots to do it to someone else. And to the family I cant say im sorry for your loss. He was a criminal. what if the drugs he was selling would have killed someone would you still love him knowing he just killed someone?
