Two men accused of killing a Morehead City man had their first court appearance Friday morning.
Gary Turpin of Newport and Anderson Gentry of New Bern were given court appointed attorneys and will be continued held in jail without bond.
Two men are charged with murder in what authorities call a drug deal gone bad.
The Craven County Sheriff's Office arrested the 24-year-old Turpin and the 25-year-old Gentry for the death of 19-year-old Troy Collins of Morehead City
Authorities say Collins was found Wednesday afternoon lying near the road behind Riverdale Fuel Mart on U.S. 70. He died Thursday morning.
Authorities say Turpin and Gentry set up a deal to buy Ecstasy pills with Collins, and then put a gun to Collins' head, robbed him and then hit him on the head. Collins jumped out of the car near the Riverdale Mini Mart.
Both Turpin and Gentry now have a September 1st court date.
