Coast Guard Evacuates Sick Crewmember From Sailboat

A man believed to be having a stroke on a sailboat was rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard Tuesday night.

The Coast Guard got the call around 6:30 p.m. that a crewmember aboard the "Direction" might be having a stroke. The boat was anchored in Taylor's Creek near the Beaufort Inlet.

A rescue boat from Fort Macon arrived about 25 minutes later and took the man to the Beaufort waterfront where an ambulance took him to Carteret General Hospital.
