State Emergency Management officials says at least 18 people were hurt and more than 100 homes severely damaged or destroyed by severe storms and tornadoes in Eastern Carolina.
The worst hit is Beaufort County where 16 people were sent to the hospital, and nearly 100 homes damaged.
In Greene County, the state says eight homes were damaged.
Three people were injured in Pasquotank County, and power was knocked out in Elizabeth City.
Perquimans County had six homes destroyed, and several others damaged. Power lines were down throughout the county.
Three mobile homes and a barn were damaged in Pitt County on Blackjack-Simpson Road. Some vehicles were also overturned.
