Thousands of gallons of partially treated sewage has spilled into a tributary of the Cashie River in Bertie County.
Windsor officials say 73,000 gallons escaped from the town's treatment plant on County Farm Road Thursday for eight hours.
They say the sewage got into a ditch that flowed into Broad Branch, a tributary of the Cashie River. The town says the spill happened because of a blockage in a flow line.
