Parrott, Oakwood, Greenfield & Lawrence Among Local Boys Teams Making State Tournament

The NCISSA has released the Boys State Basketball Tournament brackets and the season continues for a handul of teams from eastern North Carolina. The first round games will be played Tuesday on the higher seed's home floor.

The Arendell Parrott Academy boys team secured the 16th seed in the NCISSA 2A bracket and face 23-2 Northside Christian in an opening round match on Tuesday.

The CPIC champion Greenfield Knights are the two seed in the 1A division and match-up against Statesville Christian in the first round. Perennial CPIC powerhouse Wayne County Day School from Goldsboro is the 7th seed in the state and they'll be tipping off against 15-9 Trinity School of Durham.

Both teams in the Division 1a 8 vs 9 match-up are in the WITN viewing area. 18-7 Lawrence Academy faces 25-3 Community Christian from Wilson.

Ridgecroft is the 14th seed and they're up against a 28-6 United Faith squad in their opening game.

The Oakwood Eagles are making their first appearance in the state tournament. As their reward for securing the #16 slot, they get to take on John Wall & CJ Leslie's alma mater, Raleigh powerhouse Word of God.

    i played against greenfield an word of god when they had john wall, and CJ! both very good teams an coached very well!!!
