New Information But Many Unanswered Questions In Death Of Missing Man

We now know the identity of a missing man found dead in a pond, but authorities still don't know how he died.

Martin County Sheriff's deputies say 54-year-old Bertram Evans was reported missing Friday afternoon.

Lawmen say they found Evans body in the pond near high Highway 17 home in Williamston following an extensive search.

The Martin County Sheriff's Office says there were no signs of forced entry at his home and his cause of death is pending toxicology reports.

The medical examiner says it could be 6 to 8 weeks before they have those results.

Evans was known to have some medical issues but it's not clear if that contributed to his death.
