FIRST ON WITN: Minivan Flips After Collision With School Bus

The Highway Patrol is investigating a school bus accident that happened this afternoon in Bertie County.

Twenty students from Aulander Elementary were on the bus. County transportation director Vernice Murphy says none of the students were hurt, but they are being taken to Roanoke Chowan Hospital to be checked out.

The wreck happened around 3:45 p.m. in front of the Aulander Police Department. Witnesses say the bus and a minivan collided. The minivan flipped over on its side and several people in the van were injured.

No word yet from the Highway Patrol about what caused the accident.
