A Martin County deputy is on paid leave after being arrested for DWI.
Highway Patrol officials said Christopher Moore of Williamston was pinned in his truck Tuesday night after he ran off the road and crashed into 2 trees.
Troopers say Moore ran off the road around 6:00 p.m. Tuesday in Martin County on Jones Road near Bell Town Road. He had to be cut out of his vehicle and was taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
Officials said Moore was off duty at the time of the accident and driving his personal vehicle.
Moore has been a deputy for two years and is on paid administrative leave pending the results of their investigation.
A driver was pinned in his truck Tuesday night after he ran off the road and hit two trees.
Trooper S.A. Stone says the crash was not weather related.
Trooper say the driver was still in the emergency room just before 11:00 p.m. Tuesday night, hours after he crashed his F-350 in Martin County on Jones Road near Bell Town Road. The driver's name has not been released.
Stone says about 6:00 p.m. the man in his 20's ran off the road hit a tree, went airborne for about 30-feet, hit a second tree and was pinned in. He had to be cut out of his truck and was taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
Stone says the cause is still under investigation and charges are pending.
