Man Airlifted To Hospital After Wreck

A man was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center Sunday afternoon after he wrecked his vehicle in Bertie County.

Highway Patrol says 66-year-old Lonnie Byrd, Jr. of Aulander was driving on Highway 305 near Burden Fire Rd. when he went around a curve too fast and ran off the road to the right. His vehicle then went into a ditch, hit a cement drainage pipe, went airborne, and then collided with a tree.

Troopers say Byrd will be charged with exceeding a safe limit at a curb and failing to wear a seat belt.

I'm not from here, so how would I know what a Vidant is. People do have to drive from place to place. Wake Med is in wake county. Duke is Duke. UNC is at UNC. Vidant has nothing to do with Greenville, Pitt County or the Eastern North Carolina.

A man was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center. Which one? The one in Bertie, Greenville, Where????? A friend of mone was in a wreck. The cop could not tell us what hospital he was taking to. All he knew was Vidant. So tell me WHY its not Vidint Pitt Hospital. You go on Vidant web site it names all the other hospitals with the County that they are in. Vidant name is a pain in the kisser.

Pitt County Memorial was the starting place of the entire hospital system, hence why it's called the medical "center". The name fits.

Let me assure you "name it right", if someone is airlifted from a MVC scene, they will not be going to Bertie. Vidant Medical Centre in Greenville is the only trauma centre. That's where they will be going.

Many times the victim is transported to the nearest facility and then airlifted from there to "Vidant Medical Center." The one and only true LMAO center!

There is only one Vidant Medical Center which is located in Greenville. All the other hospitals are basically known as Vidant plus their county of location ( an exception will be Vidant Beaufort and Vidant Pungo due to both are in Beaufort county)

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Had you been following along with what the news was saying about VMC and the (sister) hospitals, you would understand. Please, read up about it before you start acting like you just did.
