A man's body was found in the parking lot of a barbecue restaurant in Martin County early this morning.
Williamston police say workers at Shaw's Barbecue on West Blvd. discovered the body when they showed up for work. Initially, authorities suspect the 55-year-old man died from being out in the cold all night in frigid temperatures.
Police identified the victim as Jackie Blount of Gary's Lane. They say he was not homeless and there were no signs of a struggle. Officers will look at contributing factors, such as the cold weather, in determining how Blount died.
An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon in Greenville.
