An investigation is underway as to what sparked a fire at an abandoned mobile classroom in the east.
Captain Keith Manning with Williamston Fire says they got the call to the old Williamston Middle School around 5:19 Sunday evening.
Manning says that the fire appears to have started inside a closet of the doublewide mobile unit and burned around 50% of the structure.
Foul play hasn’t been ruled out, but Manning says that the windows and doors were secure.
Manning says electricity may have played a role as well, as the unit still had power flowing to it.
