Pedestrian Killed

A 24-year-old pedestrian was killed early Saturday morning in Bertie County after a car struck him.

It happened on Cedar Landing Road around 2:20 am in Windsor.

According to highway patrol-- a car, driven by Lashawna Smallwood of Windsor, was passing another on the road in a pass zone, when she struck a pedestrian-- Donnell Perry of Windsor. Perry was taken to the hospital, but later died of his injuries.

Troopers say they are still investigating that accident. So far no charges have been filed.

First I would like to say RIP Donnell. Some people are so judgemental.. I dont think she would be crazy enough to be racing on that crazy road with all of those curves. If you wasnt there then how could you even say that she was racing.Stop gossiping and learn facts before you people decide to go and run your mouth, I read the news report and not one time did it say that speed was a factor, It says she was passing another car in a passing zone. I', truly sorry for what happened to Donnell, and Im sorry that Shawna had to go through this as well. Somethings are outta our control. Im sure her heart is aching as well. The way some people make it sound is as if she meant to kill him or something. Both families are in my prayers.

lil sis-dont feel sorry 4 lashawna's lil boy or lil girl.this was clearly an accident that couldnt be prevented not a drag race not anything intentionally. what you need to do is pray for that man family to strengthen them. appearantly you dont kno lashawna well enough to think she was racing with the other car.
