Two Charged With Shooting At ALE Agent, Third Person Sought

Two men have been arrested and they're looking for a third suspect after a state ALE agent was shot at on January 22nd.

Charged with assault on a law enforcement officer with a firearm and discharging a weapon into occupied property are Delauno Corey and Jonathan Wyche, both of Williamston.

Authorities say they're still looking for Delvanti Rodgers of Williamston.

A news release says last Friday night the agent saw three young men buy alcohol at the Williamston Stop 'n Shop and walk away. The agent was going to check their ID, but as he drive slowly by the three he heard gunshots.

Authorities say as the agent turned his blue lights on, he heard two more shots. The three ran into a cemetery and escaped through a fence.

A total of six shell casings were found at the scene.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Delvanti Rodgers should call Martin County Crime Stoppers at (252) 792-8800 or local law enforcement.

I don't know how anyone can defend the young men who shot at the ALE officer!!! He was doing his JOB! It's law enforcement who keeps chaos from taking over each and every town in our country. Yes, these young men have been failed by society but it's no excuse to try and take the life of another.

No I did not come to a complete stop(yes I did make sure no one was coming), but the cops don't either. They suppose to set examples and if I see them pull off without making a complete stop then I am not going to do it either. And will continue to do it. And if you have been stop many times without been giving a ticket then either you are lucky or that rule is bull. Or have you gotten a ticket?

Do you people know what allegedly means? It means questionably true or of a specified kind or accused but not proven or convicted. So write back when they actually have proof.

I agree with the will. One night I was coming home from work and I got at the stop light at the end of prison camp coming into Williamston and I slowed down a little and turned right like I always do if nothing is coming and that late at night most of the time nothing is coming. Well a cop stop me and ask for my registration and license and I said not in a polite way not until you tell me what I did. And he said you ran a red light. I said nothing was coming and I can turn right on a red light if nothing is coming. So I had to stand up for myself or he would have kept on harassing me. And I did stand up for myself and you people should too, because the next they may harass you and it would be good for you. We should not be afraid of the cop if we are not doing anything wrong. If they yell I yell louder and then they look at me like I am crazy. They are to protect us not harass us.

to miss sherod, i have seen people convicted of poss. of firearm by felon without a gun being found, the only thing your people deserve is in prinson and thats where they goin to end up, even if they did not find a gun, there are shell casings that can match dna and prints to your boys, you need to read up on the law before you make a fool out of yourself, which you already have, and MAYBE is spelled with a y not a t, guess u didn't finish high school either, like your people, as you like to put it.

They obviously had enough "Proof" to obtain a few warrants. Go to for more details and for a photo of the suspect who is still at large. Also, I guarantee any "client" that cooperates with the police when they are trying to do their job will not get his ribs broke. In these responses we have people who are in favor of police being shot at, "Mentors" who will not contibute to their own county. That is your job. Also a former drug dealer who now recommends white collar crime. The criminal element in these responses is too strong. No more trying to reason who do not have an intellectual starting point to even communicate with. Decent people don't shoot a Cops! I am done with these comments and this story. Stay in school kids!

Once again like i said there was no gun found on niether person and the officer didn't see them shoot. So what proof do they have? As for you the concern citizen of kinston how about you stay in kinston and mind your own business, yes i am a close friend and shena is a family of suspects but they are innocent until proven guitly just like any other person is.Also for you to sit there and say that cops don't deserve to be treated like this, you are the one who needs to wake up and open your eyes, most of these cops are working with ther drug dealers on the streets now and they are crocked as so call criminals. For that little comment maybe i need to be shot at how do you know that i already have been shot at,maybe i have matbe i haven't. So you are intiled to your opinion just like i am.

I just think that some people need to grow up. I knew two of these guys growing up, and they are of age to drink by now, and should of known better. I have been living in "ill Will" all my life and once was a thug in my teen years, but decide a better route. Now today, I can proudly say that I am a graduate student that once sold the grams of cocaine too. But if you just a little smart try "white collar" crime, and stop the gun busting please!
