Martin County Restaurant Stays Open Despite The Wintry Conditions

The roads were icy and dangerous Saturday in Martin County as well.

But that didn't stop some from heading out to get breakfast at Shamrocks Restaurant.

The owner, Talmage Dunning, said he thought about closing for the day, but decided to tough out the storm because its actually exciting for folks there.

People inside said they were enjoying the storm because they rarely get to see snow.

I'd lay odds you will be down to less than 700 high school students county wide within 20 years Baker. Your leadership is looking out for what is best for them in the here and now and seem to be completely oblivious to the fact that they are doing the opposite of what they should be doing to ensure a future in the county for their children. Their kids and grandkids will have no choice but to leave because of the things that are being done now. Surrounding counties did the same thing years ago and look at them. Can your leaders look around and see the examples of what happens when this path is taken. Bertie, Hertford, Washington, Northampton, Jones, Lenoir and Wayne counties are fine examples of how bad this can get. Your whole county will look like Robersonville! Ughhhh!!!

I do eat at a lot of different places, if I want pre-packaged food from freezer to microwave I go to Greenville or surrounding cities, but when I want good home style cooking I go to SHAMROCK.Thier breakfast is second to none.I'm pretty sure the employees came in if they felt safe and not forced, just shows their good work ethics, some have bills snow or no snow.

Yeah taxpayer, lets get on with it. It turned the western end of the county into one huge, depopulated rural slum and the combination of that and white flight has Williamston and it's surrounding area well on it's way to the same fate. If you are going to kill a county, by God kill the whole thing! Why should we leave Bear Grass and Jamesville as two relatively low crime and pleasant enclaves for residents of the county to take refuge in. Let's kill the whole county while we are at it. In twenty years there won't be 800 high school students or 15,000 residents left in this giant rural cesspool of crime, poverty and ignorance. There will be nobody left except the same old money families who are in control now and the project dwellers. Spread the misery you cowardly dolts. How was that "Joe Bob"? Honest, straigtforward, factual and to the point. We may have to change Williamston's status and move the center of all human existence to a new location. Maybe Cleveland. Baykha!!!

Joe Bob, you are right. It is stupid that it wasn't done years ago. Get over it and get ready, it is coming!!!

I remember about 10 years ago having a business meeting regarding my work, which the meeting was in Williamston. After that, about 6 of us went to the shamrock, ate there, and I must say, their food was really really good, especially the fried chicken. Next time we go up to Raleigh, we just may have to stop in Williamston, gas up there, since I heard the cheaper gas comment. After all it's halfway, and it will give me a good reason not to stop in Rocky Mount. BTW, what is the gas price up there now? Did'nt know if it's cheaper there than on the Outer Banks and just wondering!

Use of silly, canned expressions such as "OMG", "whatever" and "grow up", show a general lack of ability to think for oneself. Original thinking please! Stupid expressions repeated over and over convey no meaning except the fact that the one using them isn't very bright. Baykha!
