An Eastern Carolina hero was honored Friday in Martin County.
It was a moment for the citizens of Martin County and across the east to appreciate the service of law enforcement.
The wife of fallen Deputy Charlie Brown was presented a plaque from the military order of the purple heart.
While civilians cannot receive the purple heart, the order sees the plaque as a symbol of the dedication and valor that an officer who has lost his life displays.
Brown was gunned down on the job in Martin County back on December 8th.
Brown was one of 7 law officers to lose their life in 2009.
