Serious Crash In Bertie County

A main highway in Bertie County was shut down because of a serious car accident Thursday morning.

Troopers say it happened on Highway 13/17 near the Walker Funeral Home south of Windsor around 10:30 am.

As of noon the highway remained closed and troopers continue to investigate the crash. One vehicle, a white van, received substantial front-end damage.

The road is open.

No mention of a ticket given for unrestraint children! Wonder why?

Any road is dangerous if nobody obeys the rules. The school bus accident same thing. If the truckers and everybody else would just slow the hell down, then this would not be an often occurrence.

I was coming through to Williamston and got stopped when the chopper landed right on the road about 3 cars ahead on 17 s. I did not see the crash happen but when the chopper left about 15 Min later the van was a total wreck. Just drove back thru, everything is clear now

Mortie, actually the intersection was more dangerous before they built the new road. If drivers would obey the traffic signals, it would not be dangerous at all now.

mortie, it is not a dangerous area, it is the fact that there are dangerous drivers. If people would learn to stop when the light turns red, alot of these accidents would not happen. And it dont matter if you a local or not. When the light is green you may go, if it is red then STOP! That goes for those in Windsor and those who may come from N.Y. the same thing should happen. People need to pay attention while driving and maybe some of these accidents would not happen.

Tractor trailer ran the red light, swerved to miss, the cab missed the van but the trailer ran over it. The tractor trailer was headed north towards Ahoskie the van was turning left onto 13 off of 17.
