People hoping to turn Bear Grass School into a charter school lost their bid Thursday.
The State Board of Education placed the proposal from Bear Grass number four, losing out to become one of three new charter schools in the state.
Phil Hodges with the Bear Grass Educational Foundation says they are not giving up, and the group is now trying to figure out it's next move.
Martin County's school board last year voted to close the school and merge it with another high school in the county. Bear Grass will remain open for the upcoming school year.
