Neighbors React To News Of Teacher Arrest

Parents and neighbors of a local teacher arrested for child pornography spoke out Monday about his arrest.

40 year old Paul Shepard learned of his charges while inside his hospital room on Friday.

The exceptional school teacher at Jamesville High School has been on medical leave, according to Martin County's Superintendent and remains on leave until the investigation is complete.

The concern Shepard's neighbors have is that he lived next to small kids and just a block away from a daycare.

Parents with children at Jamesville High are upset they were not told about the teacher's arrest.

Martin County's District Attorney, Seth Edwards says he couldn't comment about the case, but says they don't think the images found at Shepard's home are of students at the school.

SET UP? Are you serious? We have to trust that the WPD are protecting our children. If they feel the stuff they found at his house was illegal, then I feel safer if he is not at school. Obviously the stuff they found was a lot more than dirty pictures of 16 and 17 year old girls. I have heard it was very disturbing...and children should not be around him.

It does not matter whether the images found at this man's home did not have students from his school, but was does matter is he had images children! I am so sick and tired of these perverts targeting innocent children! Every time I hear about an incident like this, it lets me know we are living in a wicked, wicked world and God will have his day!!! Who can you trust with your child if you can't trust an educator. I am so glad laws are becoming tougher for these perverts!!!

The fact you can readily find it as you say, does not change the fact that it is illegal, and downright wrong. Sugar coat it any way you like. I know a sex offender. His likes are much younger, which is exactly why he will never get near my family as long as I can stop it. My guess is his pictures were much younger, hence them stating it was not of his high school students. Probably those with something against him are the VICTIMS.

I would guess that this "Child Porn" is probably of 16-17 year old girls. If anyone really wants to find some, it's all over the internet. I would guess that about 30-40% of men in the viewing/reading area have looked at some of it at one time or another. Our society dictates that men should like young girls right? Look at celebrity men, they get the youngest legal thing. This guy apparently just went too young. Also, to the student in his class: If you don't make pornographic pictures or videos, he shouldn't have any of you. I agree too that someone must have something against him. Lord knows what authorities would find if they raided everyones' homes.

This is happening all over the country. Go to and click on the Scandal page. This year they have documented over 200 of these types of incidents. In 2008 they found 478 of these kinds of cases.

If he's not a registered sex offender, then he can live where he wants. He must have made someone mad with him.He had to be turned in by someone who knew what was going on.He will have his day in court.
