While some kids are enjoying their summer vacation at the beach or camp, others are volunteering their time to help people in need.
The youth group from Bellemont United Methodist Church in Burlington is in Washington in Beaufort County helping homeowners affected by April's tornadoes.
Nine 6-12 graders, along with their supervisors, are working to demolish a home on Whichard's Beach Road.
Michaela Davis is the youth group's Vice President and says it's a great way to give back.
"We love being out here and helping people," says Davis. "What would Jesus do? That's why we're out here."
The youth group is working under the direction of the North Carolina United Methodist Disaster Response.
The homeowners say the Methodist group will also rebuild the home, only charging them the cost of the materials.
