Woman Believes Power Restoration Sparked House Fire

Many people in the east have their power back on, but one local woman says that's what caused her house to catch on fire.

Greta Brooks of Belhaven in Beaufort County told us that her power came back on around 3:30 in the morning on Tuesday, and shortly after, her cousin called saying that the house had burned down.

Brooks was staying in Greenville until the power was restored, and says she took all the precautions. "We unplugged the window air conditioner, unplugged the music thing, unplugged the lights, unplugged the dehumidifier we had gotten. We unplugged everything we thought might ignite a fire, so we had unplugged those things."

The Belhaven fire department and Pantego volunteer fire department say the exact cause of the fire is still unknown.
