State troopers have identified a woman killed in a head on collision Thursday morning in Beaufort County.
The Highway Patrol say 60-year-old Sandra Woolard of Greenville died at the hospital after her Toyota Corolla collided with an empty hog truck on Possum Track Road in Beaufort County.
Trooper Chris White says the driver of the big rig, Thomas Hawley from Princeton, has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle by driving left of center.
He was taken to Vidant Beaufort Hospital for minor injuries. A passenger did not require transport.
Troopers say Hawley works for Maxwell Food Company.
State troopers say a driver of a hog truck crossed the center line and struck an oncoming car, killing a woman.
The wreck happened on Possum Track Road, south of Chocowinity shortly after 6:00 a.m.
The truck, owned by Goldsboro Hog Farms, ended up jumping the ditch before crashing into a barn that was alongside the road. That barn had to be torn down in order to get the truck free.
The victim, who was driving a Toyota car, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Troopers say the hog truck driver will be charged Misdemeanor Death By Motor Vehicle with Driving Left of Center.
The two people in the hog truck were not seriously injured and the Highway Patrol has not yet released the name of the woman killed.
