2nd Arrest In Washington Counterfeit Money Case

An ongoing investigation into counterfeit money in Washington in Beaufort County resulted in another arrest.

22-year-old Guy Sprouse of Washington is charged with two counts of obtaining property by false pretense by using counterfeit currency. Just last week 21-year-old Brandon Mizell was charged with the same thing and for possessing fake money.

Sprouse was released on a $12,000 bond. The investigation is ongoing.

Washington Police are telling businesses to be on the lookout for counterfeit currency after arresting a man on charges of having what they term counterfeit instruments and obtaining property by false pretense.

Washington Police arrested 21-year-old Brandon Mizell of Washington. He's charged both in Washington and Wake County. Detectives are also working with the NCDMV License and Theft Division and numerous other law enforcement agencies. They say they've have recovered two stolen vehicles and expect to locate more vehicles and property. Additional charges against Mizell are pending.
