USS New York, Built With World Trade Center Steel, At Morehead City Port

Part of the World Trade Center has been docked at the state port in Morehead City -- the USS New York.

Seven and a half tons of steel in the amphibious transport dock's bow came from the rubble of the World Trade Center.

The huge ship, nearly as large as a battleship, has been at the port for the past couple of days. The Navy will not say why the Norfolk-based ship has been in Morehead City, but it certainly is obvious to notice.

The New York was commissioned in 2009 and has a crew of 363 sailors and Marines.
