Two Of Three Suspects Make Plea In Murder Of Paraplegic Man

Two people charged with the 2010 murder of a paraplegic man have agreed to plea bargains offered by the state.

In a Beaufort County courtroom, Martel Weston pleaded guilty to second degree murder, armed robbery, first degree arson and first degree burglary in the beating death of Leonard Willson III of Bath.

Domonic Farrow pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact to 2nd degree murder, accessory after the fact to robbery with a dangerous weapon, and accessory after the fact to second burglary.

They are two of the three men charged in connection with the October 7th, 2010 beating death of Willson, who was confined to a wheelchair. Willson's body was found in his home on South Main Street.

The 53-year-old man had lived in Bath for some 15 years and was frequently seen on his recumbent handcycle around town.

Sentencing for the two men have been delayed, until after they testify against Arturo Lopez-Perez. Investigators say Willson was a mentor to the then-16-year-old Lopez-Perez, and that the two knew each other for about a year before the murder.
