Two Men Charged With Stealing Scrap Metal

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office say they got a call Friday about stolen property at Gray Road Mine in Chocowinity.

Deputies say they discovered two people trying to steal numerous types of scrap metal from the property.

Deputies also learned metal stolen from the mine had been previously sold at a recycling business in Vanceboro in Craven County.

Beaufort County Authorities arrested 25-year-old James Deans and 25-year-old Vince Hodges both of Washington. The two were each charged with obtaining property by false pretenses, one count misdemeanor larceny, and two counts of second degree Trespassing.

They were both placed under a $1500.00 bond.

Deans was also served with an outstanding order for arrest for failure to appear in Craven County and issued an additional $500 secured bond.
