Two Beaufort Police Officers Receive Medals of Valor

Two Beaufort police officers received the Medal of Valor Monday night, following their actions on Halloween night.

Police say Officer Willis and Detective Eric Sassano shot Arthur Page that night. According to police, Page had just shot his sister, Susan Salazar, and her neighbor, McArthur Wright.

Willis tells WITN, "It seemed like a video game. It didn't seem that this should have happened. Right before the shooting I was thinking to myself, 'Is this real?'"

Two and a half months later, the two officers were honored for saving Salazar's life. She and Wright, the other victim, were in attendance for the ceremony.

The Medals of Valor were presented by Chief Steve Lewis, the same man who called his officers "heroes," and stuck by them while the SBI investigated.
