Camp Boddie and Pamlico Sea Base, both part of the East Carolina Scout Reservation on Blounts Bay near Chocowinity, will cease operations at noon Thursday. At that time everyone will be asked to evacuate the camp.
Parents with Scouts or Venturers in the camp should contact their unit leaders about new transportation plans.
The National Weather Service is predicting that the camp is in a band that 60 mph winds are predicted.
Over 200 tents will have to be lowered and more than 200 watercraft transported off the waterfront.
Any volunteers available are requested to come Thursday morning and assist with the camp evacuation.
Staff will report back at camp on Saturday morning to re-establish camp for the coming week to begin on Sunday.
East Carolina Scout Reservation is still recovering from more than $285,000 in damages from Hurricane Irene.
Although those type of damages are not expected in this storm, the council is taking all safeguards to protect life and property.
