The Highway Patrol has identified the people involved in a deadly car crash.
Troopers say 80-year-old Paul Clark was pronounced dead after running into the back of a truck that was being towed on Highway 264 West near Washington Friday. We're told that collision pushed the tow truck into a Toyota pickup in front of it, pinning tow truck driver Robert Mozingo between the two vehicles. Also injured was Marcus House, the driver of the Toyota pickup.
Troopers say Mozingo and House were trading information between the two vehicles in the center turn lane of Highway 264 when the accident happened.
Troopers say Mozingo was ultimately taken to Vidant Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition early Monday. House was taken to Vidant Beaufort Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Troopers say that it’s not clear whether the 80-year-old man died as a result of the impact, or because of a health issue. Officials are awaiting word on that from the medical examiner.
The accident remains under investigation.
