Tar-Pamlico River Cleanup Part Of NC Big Sweep

As part of NC Big Sweep 2012, local citizens will be out cleaning up the Tar-Pamlico River.

The Pamlico-Tar River Foundation, PTRF, in coordination with Pitt County Recycling and East Carolina University's Adventure Club will conduct and coordinate a river cleanup with the help of volunteers Saturday.

Close to 200 volunteers, including ECU service clubs and various youth groups are expected to join in the cleanup in Greenville, both on the river and in the downtown area.

Since 2006, PTRF has sponsored semi-annual cleanups netting more than 16 tons of trash.
