DEPUTIES: Stolen iPhone Leads To Thieves

Deputies said three thieves' plan was foiled by the same cell phone they stole from a vehicle break-in.

Deputies in Pitt County said Washington Police asked for some help tracking a stolen cell phone.

Washington Police said an iPhone had been stolen during a car break-in, and Washington investigators tracked the phone to the Greenville Mall.

On April 11th, deputies got to the mall, and along with mall security, found 19-year-old Marquise Davis, 18-year-old Dashon Goddard, and 20-year-old Larry Warren.

Investigators said Davis admitted to selling the phone in the mall. He was charged with felony possession of stolen goods and felony obtaining property by false pretense on the spot and taken to jail under a $50,000 bond. Deputies later added conspiracy charges which increased Davis' bond to $75,000.

Later, Goddard was issued an $8,000 unsecured bond and Warren was issued a $10,000 secured bond on charges of felony possession of stolen goods, felony obtaining property by false pretense, felony conspiracy to possess stolen goods, and conspiracy to obtain property by false pretense.

Lawmen say all three young men will also face charges from Washington Police related to the car break-in.
