Hundreds of special athletes got a chance to shine on Wednesday. It was the Beaufort-Hyde County Special Olympics Spring Games at Washington High School.
Special olympians from 16 schools and organizations in those two counties took part. There were also plenty of volunteers, including students from Washington High School.
The day featured an opening ceremony, a recognition of the athletes, the ceremonial torch run and cauldron lighting.
The athletes had a fun time running, throwing, jumping and trying to hit the target at the dunking booth.
