NEW INFO: Sex Assault Suspect In Beaufort County Released After Posting Bond

A man accused of sexual battery turned himself in and was released after posting bond.

The sheriff's office says charges stem from an incident back on May 27th where they responded to a report of a sexual assault at a residence on Mill Road in Washington.

Authorities say Simon Hardison turned himself in at the Magistrate’s Office on Wednesday and was released after posting a $1,000.00 secured bond

The search for a sexual battery suspect continues today, but a search of his criminal record reveals decades of convictions.

Simon Hardison's convictions date back to 1978 for larceny of a motor vehicle. However, it's the DWI convictions that dominate his record. He's been convicted of that crime nine separate times.

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is currently looking for Hardison as they investigate a sexual battery case from May on Mill Road in Washington.

After a short foot chase, the suspect, 51-year-old Simon Hardison, was arrested for resisting a public officer and later released after posting bond.
