DEPUTIES: Another Victim Found In 'Solar World' Fraud Case

Deputies say there could be more victims in an alleged solar panel scam after a man wanted in two counties is now behind bars.

Carteret County deputies say they have served an additional fraud warrant on Stacy Bland.

The 43-year-old Bland turned himself in to the Pamlico County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday after reportedly being told of a wanted poster that was issued just a few hours earlier.

Deputies say in the two Carteret County cases, Bland is accused of getting thousands of dollars from victims by promising to install solar panels at their homes through a company called Solar World. In one case the homeowner says he gave Bland $12,000, while another homeowner says the man got $10,000.

In both cases, deputies say no work was done.

Bland also faces similar charges in Beaufort County, according to deputies.

Deputies say the man has multiple addresses, including Surf City, Washington and Minnesott Beach.

Anyone who believes they are a victim in this scam should call the Carteret County Sheriff's Office at 252-726-INFO (4636).
