A former nurse has been charged with calling in prescriptions for large quantities of hydrocodone for herself using other identities, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Drug Unit.
Kacey Midgette, age 33 of Grey Farm Road in Jamesville, was arrested. She is charged with 11 counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud.
Investigators say Midgette, a former licensed practical nurse for a doctor's office in Washington County, was using the identities of her associates to call in prescriptions to two pharmacies in Beaufort County and then traveling to pick them up.
Officials report the total from the fraudulent prescriptions was 1,100 dosages over six months.
Investigators say Midgette is also under investigation for similar charges in Martin and Washington Counties.
