Light flickered and cut out as some residents in Washington were making breakfast Wednesday morning.

Brian Alligood, City Manager, said a breaker went out at the eastern substation around 6:15 a.m. Tuesday.

No word on what caused the outage yet, but Alligood said power was back up within an hour for most.

Nearly 2,800 residents in portions of Smallwood, Washington Park and homes near Washington High School were affected.

Alligood said the hospital had to switch to generator power for a while.
