The Beaufort County Police Activities League held their 2nd Annual PAL Dinner Dance and Auction at the Washington Civic Center on Saturday.
The price of the event was $30 per ticket and there were many local police, firefighters and emergency personnel in attendance. In addition to the dinner, those on hand could bid in a silent auction for a variety of goods as well as a live auction for big ticket items.
All profits from the event will go towards funding the PAL, which enables police and other local heroes to interact with Beaufort County kids in a number of ways that include how science, technology, mathematics and engineering can apply in the real world.
“One of the things we're trying to do is cause kids to stay in school by getting stimulated by science and technology events,” said Beaufort County PAL President Alvin Powell, “So we focus on starting science clubs, using remote controlled vehicles. Bill's Aviation School out of Greenville is our aviation connection because they have a flight school."
Around 170 people are believed to have come out to Saturday’s event.
