Police say a shrimp thief was caught on camera---stealing the prawns off a shrimp trawler with a shovel.
Ryan Adams of Morehead City is charged with B&E to a boat, larceny and possession of stolen property.
Beaufort police say on Wednesday they were called to Homer Smith Seafood on Cedar Street because someone had stolen shrimp. Tommy Lewis told police that someone made off with the shrimp from his boat, "Miss Darlene".
Because of past thefts, Lewis had installed security cameras. They caught the man on camera stealing the shrimp and were able to identify him. The video shows the man using a shovel to steal the shrimp off the boat's cooler.
The one hundred pounds of shrimp was valued at $300. The 34-year-old Adams was jailed on a $1,500 secured bond.
