A vehicle collided with a tractor trailer in Washington Wednesday afternoon sending one driver to the hospital and shutting down Highway 264 for hours.
Washington Police say around 2:30 p.m., a man driving a Chevy Tahoe pulled out of Lilley Road onto Highway 264 near the Food Lion.
Lt. William Chrismon says the driver of the Tahoe was struck by a 18 wheeler hauling mail as a contractor for the U.S. Postal Service. That driver didn't require medical treatment.
The driver of the Tahoe was taken to Vidant Beaufort Hospital for his injuries.
Eastbound travel on 264 was blocked until 4pm today as crews cleared the scene.
