Northside High Gets New Principal

A Beaufort County high school that lost its two top administrators last month has a new leader.

Charles Clark has been named principal at Northside High School. Clark had been principal at Northeast Elementary School in Pinetown and taught math at Northside earlier in his career.

Clark replaces Donna Moore who resigned October 6th. Less than two week after Moore left assistant principal Mary Beth Jackson resigned. The reasons for the two leaving was never disclosed, but this summer Moore admitted that she gave away about 40 to 50 trophies and plaques that had been put in storage last year. After parents and former students showed their disapproval, the school began reclaiming the awards.

The new principal began his teaching career in 1997 at Chocowinity High School, then moved to Northside in 2000. He began his administrative career as assistant principal at P.S. Jones Middle School in 2004. He begins full time at Northside on Monday.

The school system says it is still searching for a new assistant principal for the high school.

I heard that Moore and Jackson were changing the cheerleader's failing grades to passing grades just so they could stay on the cheerleading team. Letting them pass without having to do any work.

So when will we know why our public servants at NHS resigned? As taxpayers, don't we have the right to know what happened? I know it's not the trophy thing, but something BIG must have happened, but there's no "official" reporting on it.

Congratulations! He is a great addition to NHS. Just wish Mary Beth was there as his Assistant. She was good, just got caught up under the wrong influence.

I had him as a teacher and he cared for the school then. I'm glad he's back. Northside needs someone who actually cares about the school.

Mr. Clark is an amazing principal and we at NES will greatly miss him. I agree with the other post -if NHS doesn't appreciate the amazing leader they are getting, he can certainly come back to NES! Thank you Mr. Clark for a wonderful 4 1/2 years and I wish you all the best.

He's a good guy and a great teacher. I remember him getting mad at umpires calls during softball games and kicking the bucket he sat on across the field!!

I'm sad for Northeast--we're losing a great principal. But I'm happy for him. Hope to see you again, Mr. Clark, when my children go to Northside.

I hope Northside appreciates what a fine man they are getting for their principal. He will work hard and do an outstanding job. He will be greatly missed at Northeast Elementary.
