Mother Has Message On Anniversary Of Daughter's Death Looking At Text

A mother in the east is using the anniversary of her teenage daughter's death to try and save the lives of others.

Thursday marked the one-year anniversary of the death of 18-year-old Sarah Edwards of Beaufort County.

The 18-year-old high school Senior was on her way to her after school job when troopers said she looked down at a text message, crossed the center line and collided with a log truck.

Family and friends gathered at her graveside Thursday, wrote messages on balloons, then sent them toward Heaven.

While those messages were meant for Sarah, her mother Tracey O'Carroll had one for everyone else. "That cell phone is not that important. That message is not that important. So don't do it."

Tracy has been going to schools sharing Sarah's story. She's recently begun working with the highway patrol in Greenville to help with their safe driving campaigns.
