Man, Woman Charged With Animal Cruelty After Dog Found Dead

A Beaufort County man and woman are accused of letting their dog starve to death on the back porch of a home.

Laquanda Latham and Anthony Price are charged with felony cruelty to animals.

Deputies say back on December 18th they found a dead boxer mix dog tied to the back porch of a home on Big Buck Drive in Chocowinity. A necropsy done in Raleigh showed the dog died from starvation.

Latham turned herself into the Magistrate's Office on Wednesday and was released on a $1,000 secured bond. The next day Price also went to the Magistrate's Office to answer the charge and he was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond.

You have absolutely no right to tell people to hush. Full story or not, this is a horrendous crime. And hell no, I wouldn't have done that in the early 1900s or the early 2000's

I think its horrible! How can you tie a dog up and let him starve?? As if you cannot hear the dog crying?! If they didnt want the dog, they should've taken it to a shelter. The dog didnt ask for this. Also, to: Be are just as ignorant as the people at fault for this! Of course its just a dog, we all realize! But dogs deserve better than this! We dont care what really happened...we care about how they were so careless as to let a dog literally die on their back porch! God forbid they have children! Haha...I'm pretty sure I know this Anthony character...that says enough for me.

These 2 are trash bags, no sense of compassion, and i bet they had a pitbull, thats the type of dog, these LOSERS love to have, to feel like a bad axx, walking around their ghetto. And for those that say, " oh its just a dog" how about YOU tied down on the back porch all of your little brats, and have them starve to death, less criminals of the future eating off my taxes, less dumb WELFARIANS .

It is not being nosy to voice an opinion regarding the humane rights for animals. I bet that poor dog was "crying out loud" while he starved. I am a professional breeder and I don't say any dog is "just a dog" they are loving animals who care for their owners. This is a horrible example of dog ownership, so stick that in your nosy behind.

I think this is awful neither one of them look like they are starving maybe they should be tied up a few days with no food and let them see how it feels.

people can speak up if they are starving... they can ask for food and they are not tied to a porch... animals cant ask... and yes.. these people dont look like they were starving... could have thrown the dog some scraps.... what idiots...

people can get help,if you can not feed the animals most shelters will donate food for animals, trust me i know.if it was a pit bull no wonder these dogs are angry at humans, feed them or give them to a shelter.i bet you had money for a bottle of beer.
