Man Charged With Fondling Teenager Studying At Local Library

Deputies say a teenage girl was kissed and fondled while she was studying at a public library.

James Tressler of Beaufort is charged with second degree sexual assault.

It happened at the Carteret County Library on Liveoak Street. Deputies say the 16 year old was studying at the library on Thursday when a man came up behind her and began hugging her and started kissing her neck. The man also fondled the teen, according to deputies.

Deputies say they spoke to library staff and witnesses. They returned to the library when Tressler later returned.

The 41-year-old Beaufort man was given a $2,500 bond and has an August 6th court date.
