Man Who Removed Perched Boat Revisits Bizarre Irene Problem, One Year Later

One year after Hurricane Irene hit eastern carolina, we're looking back on the damage it caused, but also at the ones that got away.

Certainly one of the more bizarre sights from Hurricane Irene was the Belle of Washington dinner cruise ship resting on top of a dock in Broad Creek. Toby Tetterton of TJ's Marine Construction was the man in charge of getting the boat back in the water.

"The Belle of Washington certainly I think a lot of people remember that because it was so unusual to see such a vessel perched on top of a pier like it was," said Tetterton.

Crews ended up lifting the boat before removing the pier from underneath it. Tetterton says they rebuilt the dock, and that even though Irene did some significant damage, most people in the east are now more prepared for future storms.
